Bosvena School saves £26,347 per year after a kVA review and energy monitoring with Purely Insights
We worked closely with the team at Bosvena School to review their energy setup and quickly discovered they were paying for far more capacity than they actually needed. With the help of our energy monitoring software, Purely Insights, we were able to pinpoint the issue and put a plan in place that delivered significant annual savings.
Identifying the issue through data led insight
After getting in touch with the estates manager, we arranged a series of meetings to discuss the trust's energy setup. During these conversations, we identified a potential issue with the kVA banding at one of their school sites.
Using our energy management software, Purely Insights, we were able to quickly confirm that Bosvena School was sitting on a far higher kVA banding than it needed, costing the school significantly more than necessary.
Paying for capacity the school never used
Our review revealed that Bosvena School's meter was set to 600 kVA, well above the level required for the site's actual demand. We submitted an application to the DNO for a capacity downgrade, reducing it from 600 kVA down to 150 kVA.
The entire process was handled by our team, ensuring a smooth transition with no disruption to the school.
Reducing unnecessary consumption
The school used Purely Insights to actively monitor and reduce their energy consumption. By identifying patterns of unnecessary usage, the school was able to make targeted changes that delivered measurable results month on month.
In January, the school used 23,593 kWh. By February, this had dropped to 16,327 kWh, a reduction of 30.8%. March is predicted to continue this trend at 16,254 kWh.
A 7,266 kWh reduction in just one month through smarter energy monitoring and targeted consumption changes.
