What it is
The EII Support Levy (Network Charging Compensation) charge in plain English
Levy on electricity suppliers from April 2025 that funds the Network Charging Compensation Scheme, under which eligible energy-intensive industries (steel, chemicals, glass, paper and similar) are compensated for a share of their network charges (TNUoS, DUoS and BSUoS): 60% for claim months from April 2024, rising to 90% from April 2026 (which reaches supplier invoices from April 2027, because the levy is billed twelve months in arrears). Suppliers pass the levy through to all other customers as a small per-kWh charge. It is administered by Elexon on behalf of DESNZ.
Introduced April 2025 (replaces old EII exemption scheme).
