How this helps your business
To find who supplies your business, pick the utility above and enter your postcode. There is no single register that names the supplier for every meter: gas has the national Find My Supplier service, electricity has no free public register at all, and water splits the answer between a regional wholesaler you cannot change and a retailer you can. Each tool follows the correct route for its utility, which is why the answer takes one postcode and a couple of minutes rather than a morning of phone calls.
The question usually comes up at the worst moment: a new premises with no paperwork, an unexpected invoice, or a renewal letter from a company you do not recognise. In each case the supplier you find is often billing deemed or out-of-contract rates, which are set unilaterally and are almost always higher than a tendered contract. Identifying the supplier is step one; the saving comes from confirming your contract end date and tendering the renewal before the window closes.

Who is my supplier: frequently asked questions
- How do I find out who supplies my business?
- Pick the utility above (electricity, gas or water) and enter your business postcode in that tool. Each tool identifies the network or wholesaler for your premises, then walks you through confirming the registered supplier: from a recent bill, from the industry records, or by letting Purely Energy retrieve it free via a Letter of Authority. The whole process takes a couple of minutes per utility.
- Is there one website that shows all my suppliers?
- No. Each utility keeps its records separately. Gas has the national Find My Supplier service, electricity has no free public register (the supplier is confirmed via your bill, your network operator or a Letter of Authority), and water splits the answer between a regional wholesaler and a switchable retailer. That is why this page splits into three tools: each one follows the correct route for its utility.
- Are my business gas and electricity supplied by the same company?
- Often not. Every meter is registered separately, so a business premises can have a different supplier for gas and for electricity, each with its own contract end date. Multi-site businesses often inherit a patchwork of suppliers across the estate. Check each utility separately with the tools above, then note every contract end date: aligning them is one of the first savings a procurement review delivers.
- What details do I need before switching supplier?
- For electricity you need your MPAN (the 21-digit Supply Number on your bill), for gas your MPRN (the 6 to 10 digit meter point number), and for water your SPID (supply point ID, shown on your water bill). You also need each contract end date, because most business contracts only allow a switch in a fixed renewal window. The electricity and gas tools above find your MPAN and MPRN for you.
