Purely Insights capability

Every site under one login, whatever the supplier

Purely Insights runs a whole portfolio from one login, regardless of which supplier holds each contract. Accounts hold 1 to 1,000+ meters, with sub-meters in addition, and views nest from portfolio to site, building, meter and circuit. Users are unlimited, permissions are set per site, group or function, and an audit trail sits behind the account.

One login covers the estate, whoever supplies each site

Purely Insights consolidates every site in your portfolio under one login, regardless of which supplier holds each contract. A portfolio assembled through acquisition, or split across suppliers to stagger renewal dates, still reports as one estate. Half-hourly electricity, gas and water arrive at meter level and refresh roughly every 30 minutes after settlement. Non-half-hourly meters come in via AMR and supplier billing data, with AMR refreshing daily. Where a meter has no data flow, manual upload keeps the site in the portfolio view rather than outside it.

Account capacity runs from 1 to 1,000+ meters, with sub-meters in addition, so a four-site operator and a several-hundred-site estate use the same product. Meter compatibility covers half-hourly (P5 to P8), non-half-hourly (P1 to P4), AMR, smart and sub-meters. Historical data goes back up to six years where supplier data flows allow, which is usually enough to hold a weather-adjusted year-on-year comparison for every site you have held through more than one contract cycle.

  • 1 to 1,000+ meters per account, sub-meters in addition
  • HH (P5 to P8), NHH (P1 to P4), AMR, smart, sub-meter, manual upload fallback
  • Half-hourly data refreshed roughly every 30 minutes after settlement
  • AMR refresh daily, sub-meter cadence per device
  • Up to 6 years of history where supplier data flows allow

The hierarchy runs from portfolio down to a single half-hour

Views nest: portfolio, site, building, meter and circuit. Every level aggregates hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and annually, and every level drills down to a single half-hour. A finance director can open a monthly portfolio position and reach the half-hour that caused a variance without leaving the platform or asking anyone to export a file. Where wireless and clip-on sub-metering is installed, the same drill-down continues past the fiscal meter to circuit, sub-circuit and asset level.

Purely supplies, installs and owns those sensors. The hardware sits on Purely's balance sheet and the data sits on yours, so there is no lease and no capex line to approve, and the sensors are returned at no notice cost if you leave. For portfolios with mixed building types, weather-adjusted consumption using heating and cooling degree days makes like-for-like comparison possible, and site-against-site benchmarking shows quartiles and outliers rather than a single estate average that hides both ends.

  • Portfolio, site, building, meter and circuit views
  • Hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and annual aggregation
  • Drill-down to a single half-hour at any level
  • Weather adjustment using HDD and CDD for like-for-like comparison
  • Site-against-site benchmarking with quartile and outlier views

Unlimited users, with permissions set per site, group or function

Every account has unlimited users. Role-based access sets what each person sees and does, with permissions applied per site, per group of sites or per function, so a regional facilities manager sees their own sites, a group finance lead sees cost across the estate, and an ESG lead sees emissions across all of it. No one has to share a login to get a number, which is the usual reason portfolio reporting drifts out of date.

An audit trail sits behind the account, which matters when a threshold is edited or an alert recipient is swapped during a handover. Alert routing follows the same structure: configurable thresholds per meter and sub-meter in kWh, kW, pounds or kgCO2e, delivered by email, SMS or webhook, as a daily digest or in real time, with escalation routing. Anomaly detection covers weekend usage, overnight spikes, missing reads and holiday baselines.

Portfolio visibility turns estate averages into named sites

In one published scenario, a multi-academy trust with 22 schools found 6 sites with weekend baseload above 8 kW. The BMS was reset across all 6, and the projected saving for the academic year was £41k. A trust-wide average would not have shown that, because 16 well-run schools were carrying the six that were not. Baseload as a share of total kWh is the metric that exposes it: industry typical for offices and schools is 15 to 25 percent, and anything above 35 percent is usually a BMS schedule or always-on plant fault.

Bill validation runs against the contracted rate every billing cycle, line by line, across every meter in the portfolio. In another published scenario, a hotel group with 11 properties had a bill validation alert in month 2, and the supplier issued a £6,400 credit and corrected the going-forward rate. When an overcharge is flagged, Purely's account team raises the credit note with the supplier and chases it to ledger. The credit, the date it landed and the reason all appear in the monthly reconciliation pack.

That pack is free and Purely-side: every site, every variance, every credit and the running annual position, with no separate Insights invoice at any point. Renewal-window alerts fire at 6, 9 and 12 months before each contract ends, which matters most when a portfolio has staggered end dates. Exports come as CSV, Excel, PDF and board-pack PDF, with a read-only JSON API on request for finance, BI, ESG and BMS systems. Compliance exports cover SECR, ESOS Phase 4, an ISO 50001 evidence pack and CDP.

Frequently asked questions

Can we see sites contracted to different suppliers in the same view?
Yes. Purely Insights consolidates every site under one login regardless of which supplier holds each contract, so a portfolio built by acquisition, or deliberately split across suppliers, still reports as one estate. Half-hourly electricity, gas and water come in at meter level, non-half-hourly meters arrive via AMR and supplier billing data, and manual upload covers any meter with no data flow.
How many meters can one account hold, and what does each meter cost?
1 to 1,000+ meters per account, with sub-meters in addition. Supported types are half-hourly (P5 to P8), non-half-hourly (P1 to P4), AMR, smart and sub-meter, with manual upload as a fallback. There is no minimum portfolio size and no per-meter fee. The platform is included free with every Purely Energy supply contract, funded by a disclosed broker margin of 0.3p to 1.0p per kWh, shown line by line on every quote and renewal.
Can we limit what each user sees across the portfolio?
Yes. Users are unlimited and access is role-based, with permissions set per site, per group of sites or per function. A site manager can be scoped to their own meters, a regional lead to their region, and a group finance user to cost across the whole estate. An audit trail sits behind the account, covering changes made during a handover.
How long does it take to get a multi-site portfolio live?
Seven to 14 working days from contract sign to a live dashboard. Your side is four steps: sign the supply contract, give us the portfolio list or upload your latest bills, accept the data-access letters of authority, and pick who receives alerts. Historical data goes back up to six years where supplier data flows allow, so weather-adjusted year-on-year comparison is usually available early.

Insights comes with the contract, not a licence fee

Tender your supply through Purely Energy and the platform is included: no per-meter charge, no minimum portfolio size, and a live dashboard 7 to 14 working days after you sign.
