Purely Energy is now ISO 9001 certified. We were audited by Atlas, a UKAS-accredited certification body, against the ISO 9001 international standard for quality management, and received certification on 5th July 2026.
What is ISO 9001?
ISO 9001 is the internationally recognised standard for quality management systems. It sets out how an organisation should run and document its processes to deliver consistent, reliable service, time after time.
At its heart, the standard is about doing what you say you do, and being able to prove it. That means having clear processes in place, keeping proper records, understanding the risks in how you operate, and putting the customer at the centre of your decisions.
Why we pursued it?
We pursued ISO 9001 because we wanted to make sure every customer gets the best possible experience when they come to us. There are no strict rules on how TPIs operate in the UK, but we hold ourselves to a high standard. We want our customers to know we work with honesty and transparency when it comes to their business energy. This certification shows our commitment to quality at every stage. From the first quote, to setting up a contract, and right through its lifetime, and our team is on hand whenever you have a question or a problem.
The Journey
To achieve certification, we had to plan, document, audit and review how we operate. Our ISO 9001 journey began last October. It started with writing a quality policy. That policy was built on four pillars, each setting out what we needed from every corner of the business. We recognised that our management system had to be the best it could be. For that to happen, four quality commitments had to sit at its centre. These are customer focus, continual improvement, people and competence, and risk management and compliance.
We then carried out internal audits to find the gaps our old system was not meeting. After establishing the areas we needed to improve on, we set to work. We spent the first half of the year continually reviewing our processes. We also improved on the objectives and targets we'd set ourselves. Fast forward to July 2026, and we're now ISO 9001 certified.
What it means for our customers
You can check the official UKAS certification register and find Purely Energy Ltd listed amongst the companies certified to the ISO 9001 standard. For you, that means something simple. When you get in touch, you're dealing with a UK energy broker and consultancy that will prioritise your enquiries. We'll give you the best, most transparent information we have on the energy market, drawing on trusted sources such as Ofgem, the energy regulator.
To be clear, our management system covers the following scope: provision of energy brokerage and consultancy services, including supplier tendering, contract management, and client account management.
What it means for us internally
For the company, it's given us real structure in how we operate. Following a recognised standard keeps us compliant and creates a strong foundation for the way we run things day to day. Everyone now works to the same consistent approach, so the quality of what we do doesn't depend on who happens to be handling it.
A big part of that is ongoing staff competency training. The standard means we don't just train people once and leave it there. We keep developing the team and checking that everyone has the skills they need. We also make sure that knowledge is shared rather than sitting with one person. It's better for our staff and it's better for our customers.
It's also helped build a strong company culture. Working towards certification got the whole team thinking about quality and the part each of us plays in it. Above all, it builds in accountability, giving us a clear way to keep improving rather than letting things stand still.
Whats next?
It has been a landmark year for Purely Energy. Since June last year we have grown from a team of 8 to 22. That pace of growth reflects the demand for what we do. It also reflects our commitment to doing it well.
That growth has come alongside a series of milestones we are proud of. We became a certified B Corp, an accredited Living Wage employer and a member of the Good Business Charter. And we have now achieved ISO 9001, the international standard for quality management. Each of these says something about the kind of company we want to be. We look after our people. We hold ourselves to a clear standard and we build on solid foundations rather than shortcuts.
ISO 9001 in particular gives us the framework to keep improving as we scale. Our quality management system is now firmly in place. Our focus turns to maintaining that standard and going a step further. We have also moved to a new headquarters to make room for the team we are becoming. It gives us the space to keep growing without losing what makes Purely Energy work.
The ambition does not stop there. We are aiming to reach 50 staff by the end of the year, and we are already working towards ISO 27001, the international standard for information security management. It is a demanding accreditation, and one we hope to secure before the end of the year.
